The Evernote 4.0 app for Android is here to greet Google’s latest mobile OS. The entire interface has been tweaked without sparing even a single screen and this should ideally make the experience faster and more intuitive.

To start with, the homescreen has been thoroughly redesigned and now includes note creation options. It has buttons that provide one-step access to tags, places and notebooks generally used within the software. The note list has been refreshed to allow for easier searching through and browsing of content. In terms of the notebook list, personal notebooks as well those shared by others can now be seen in a single view. There’s an additional Action Bar placed below the note or notebook lists, which enables users to carry out all note-related functions with simple taps.

In order to enable smooth navigation, the content goes into the full-screen mode when the concerned person is reading. Likewise, a simple tap of the screen opens up all the editing options required to share and improve the note. In this new version of the Evernote 4.0 for Android app, horizontal swiping seems to be played out to the maximum with a left movement opening the note list. A back swipe brings the homescreen into the picture. For location enabled devices, the Places screen allots a spot to every note made. Simply tapping the map widget on the Action Bar will provide access to the notes and their corresponding locations on the map.

Some new settings have been introduced as well with the username appearing on the top left of the screen. Hitting it will divulge relevant information like monthly allowances and other data. Placed besides the username is a profile icon that shows off the app type chosen. For those employing the free edition, the profile widget looks simple. In case of Premium users, it shows off a shimmering crest. Apart from all the aforementioned attributes, the bugs encountered within the app have been fixed and there is an array of other improvements.

The Evernote 4.0 app for Android can be downloaded via Google Play.
