The Apple iPad is clearly not the last word when it comes to slates, considering the new ICS tablets, like the freshly launched Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2, that have been dropping in lately.

With ICS running the show on the 10-inch tablet, surfing the net or downloading content should not be too much trouble. A multi-core 1GHz processor coupled with a 400MHz GPU complements the OS, while enabling faster operations. In terms of storage, it carries 4GB internal memory along with a 5GB cloud hoarding alternative and 1GB RAM. A slot for a microSD card of 32GB capacity is also embedded within the device.

On the software front, there’s a lot in store in the form of the Kobo eReading application and several other pre-installed options as well as the Ematic App Shop. A new software dubbed EDAN arrives built into the Ematic Eglide XL Pro 2. With it, prospective users can dictate mails, tweet or even type out Facebook messages by voice alone and without using the virtual keyboard.

The other hardware components include a three-axis gyroscope with an accelerometer to facilitate motion sensing and full 3D rotation, making this Ematic slate ready for some mobile gaming. Apart from the aforementioned features, a front-facing snapper and a voice recorder find places on the specs sheet. Owing to the device’s built-in Wi-Fi status, users can hook up to a hotspot for web connectivity purposes.

The Ematic Eglide XL Pro 2 price is marked at $219.99 and it is available via online sales channels like Amazon, ShopNBC and Walmart.
