Elpida rolls out 4Gb DDR2 Mobile RAM for high-end portable devices

Elpida XDR DRAM Quite evidently, there have been consistent efforts in the mobile terrain to push up the performance of the existing DDR interface. Working along similar lines, Elpida Memory put forth its advanced 4-gigabit DDR2 Mobile RAM that uses state-of-the-art 30nm process.

Geared with a low operating voltage of 1.2V, the Mobile RAM attains a 1066Mbps high-speed data transfer rate. It employs around 30 percent less operating current than two of Elpida’s 40nm 2-gigabit products. The sophisticated circuit design and high-tech process apparently makes it the world’s smallest class in chip size for a 4-gigabit LPDDR2.

This eco-friendly product accompanies a low power feature for targeting mobile devices like smartphones and tablet PCs. The 4-gigabit DDR2 Mobile RAM comes with PoP and FBGA packages.

The new DDR2 Mobile RAM will be shipped as PoP, FBGA packages and as a bare chip for MCPs from this month onwards.
