Many rumors are afloat that June 2nd is the D-day as far as the release date for the Nokia N97 is concerned. Now it has been reported that the accounts of those who pre-ordered the N97 smartphone have started to be debited by Nokia which suggest that the rumors are true. One of the members of the N97 Geeks Forum says that Nokia has billed him the full pre-order price of the smartphone on May 19th.
Nokia customer reps state that when the N97 is pre-ordered by anyone, the full cost of the handset is debited from their account immediately. This is done only to check whether the buyer can actually afford the phone. In 1-2 business days the figure will be refunded. The actual payment amount will be taken out when the N97 is available in the market.
So far the N97 Geeks forum member seems to be the only one whose payment was taken. When more people come forward with this news, there can be a confirmation that the N97 is indeed nearing town.
