The DataWind PocketSurfer 2G4X and PocketSurfer 3G4Z have been launched in India and are now selling via offline and online outlets across the country. The former is priced at Rs 2499, while the latter can be bought in exchange of Rs 3999.
Like the company’s other offerings, both the DataWind PocketSurfer 2G4X and PocketSurfer 3G4Z are being offered with free unlimited internet browsing for a year. The brand has tied up with Reliance and Telenor for the plan. Note that the scheme does not include music and video streaming or downloads, so potential buyers will have to purchase top-up packs for it.
Taking a closer look at its specs, the PocketSurfer 2G4X sports a 3.5-inch screen which showcases its visuals via a 320 x 480p display. A 1GHz single-core processer handles daily tasks with the support of 256MB of RAM. In terms of storage, the handset packs a meager 512MB of internal space. Users who run out of memory quickly can add up to 32GB of additional room via a microSD card slot.
The dual-SIM DataWind device runs on the ancient Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. As for its camera capabilities, the phone has been equipped with 0.3MP snappers on its front and rear surface. Connectivity options for the entry-level phone consist of microUSB 2.0, 2G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Moving on to the PocketSurfer 3G4Z, the smartphone is the more expensive of the two. It carries a 4-inch 480 x 800p display and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It’s powered by a 1GHz single-core Cortex A7 SoC and works in tandem with 512MB of RAM. The dual-SIM handset contains 4GB of internal storage.
This can also be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. DataWind has blessed it with a 5MP primary camera accompanied by LED flash. There’s also a VGA resolution front-facing one for selfies and video calls. Connectivity choices for the device include 2G, 3G, microUSB 2.0, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Like we said above, the DataWind PocketSurfer 2G4X and PocketSurfer 3G4Z cost Rs 2499 and Rs 3999, respectively. The phones are now available via retail shops and the company’s website.
