Those who don’t wish to go in for extravagant smartphones, can lend a ear to this tidbit. Cricket Communications has proclaimed the launch of the Samsung Indulge or SCH-r915 which will be the latest in the smartphone lineup offered by the company.

The gadget is powered by Android 2.2 and a 1GHz processor along with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user interface. The device boasts of a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

“Cricket customers have really taken to smartphones and we are evolving our portfolio to meet their needs by offering smartphone features at varying price points,” enthused Matt Stoiber, vice president and general manager devices for Cricket.

“Our customers love to text and surf the web, especially using social media applications and want an Android experience with a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard. And the Indulge delivers with a blazing fast 1GHz processor, vivid display and a slide-out keyboard,” added Stoiber.

The phone is embedded with a 3MP camera and camcorder, music player, microSD slot, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a 1,500MaH battery. What’s more, it is inclusive of well known apps like Gmail, YouTube and Google Search in addition to Android Market access.

The Samsung Indulge will be up for grabs at Cricket branded retail outlets for a price of $329.99. It is being vended with the carrier’s $55 Android plan.
