Contact Lenses to Reflect Mobile Caller id Number Soon

Contact Lens In Hand New technologies are coming into the market every day. Today, we just need to think about it and we have it. The Researchers of Washington have made contact lenses which can display the mobile number of the person calling on the phone.

Engineers at the University of Washington have for the first time used manufacturing techniques at microscopic scales to combine a flexible, biologically safe contact lens with an imprinted electronic circuit and lights.

They have managed to insert an electronic circuit and LEDs directly in to the contact lens. After the lens was made it was tested on a rabbit’s eye. This lens was left on its eye for around twenty minutes, but it did not show any side effects.

“People may find all sorts of applications for it that we have not thought about. Our goal is to demonstrate the basic technology and make sure it works and that it’s safe,” explained Parviz, who heads a multi-disciplinary UW group that is developing electronics for contact lenses.

“Ideally, installing or removing the bionic eye would be as easy as popping a contact lens in or out, and once installed the wearer would barely know the gadget was there,” Parviz added.

Once this lens will be launched this contact lens will help the user to easily slip it into the eye and remove similar to the contact lens. Rabbit's Eye Wearing the Lens Parviz said the prototype contact lens does not correct the wearer’s vision, but the technique could be used on a corrective lens.

The materials used in making the lens are also delicate as they are in direct contact of the eye. They are being made up from organic materials. Video games developers could possibly use this to enable the players too actually be there in the virtual world. This will help the players to get really close by using this lens.

There are yet testing the lens as they think much more precautions and many other changes to be made before launching the lens officially in to the market.

The researchers hope to power the whole system using a combination of radio-frequency power and solar cells placed on the lens. This lens will have just a few pixels and can be expected soon.
