Chief Product Officer of Bharti Airtel Anand Chandrasekaran calls it quits

Putting an end to his thirteen-month long stint with Bharti Airtel, the company’s Chief Product Officer Anand Chandrasekaran has decided to resign from his position. He will be serving a notice period until June 10, after which he intends to focus on his own entrepreneur ventures.

It would be safe to say that Chandrasekaran had a very successful stint as the Chief Product Officer of the telecom operator. In fact, this post was actually created out of scratch when he had decided to join the firm after leaving Yahoo more than a year ago.

According to an Airtel spokesperson, he led the transformation of the product portfolio function at the firm during his time in office. It has also been revealed that the company fully supports his decision to quit in order to pursue his own business ventures.

Through a statement, Chandrasekaran himself has disclosed that following his entrepreneurial ambition is something he has ‘always wanted to do.’ He has also expressed gratitude towards Bharti Airtel for giving him the opportunity to work on the brand.

Under his command, the telecom operator expanded its brand presence with the help of several new products in the Indian market. Chief among them was the Wynk music streaming service and new myAirtel app. Moreover, deals were also inked with biggies like Google and Xiaomi. For the former, it was regarding free data on its Android One phones, while for the latter, it was the selling of its handsets through retail shops.

Anand Chandrasekaran hasn’t revealed any details about entrepreneurial ventures, but it’ll really be interesting to see what he comes up with. For now, let us wait and watch who Bharti Airtel will be choosing to replace him.
