We all think about saving energy and for this we come across various solutions. This issue is solved by the world’s famous and top five cell phone manufacturers, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, Samsung and Motorola. These well-known manufacturers have unveiled a new star rating system for cell phone chargers.

The major manufacturers have developed a rating system that compares the energy consumption of various chargers. The device will be given stars based on the scale of 0 to 5 according to their consumption power. If the charger is attached to the plug but not attached to the mobile phone it definitely consumes power.

And if a charger generates some kind of noise or gets warm, it indicates that the energy is wasted. The new rating system will indicate how much energy each charger consumes when it is left plugged in to the socket but not in use.

According to Nokia:

“If more than three billion people owning mobile devices today switched to a four- or five-star charger, this could save the same amount of energy each year as produced by two medium sized power plants.”

The rating is based according to the European Commission’s energy standards for chargers and the internationally recognized Energy Star standards set by the Environment Protection Agency in the US.
