Canon unveils its highest resolution full frame DSLR cameras for professional photographers

Canon has just launched two high resolution full frame DSLR cameras in India consisting of the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR. It also rolled out the Canon XC10 which is a 4K professional video camera. The price tags attached to these devices are going to burn a huge hole in your wallet, as you knew they would. The Canon EOS 5DS, EOS 5DSR and XC10 cost Rs 2,52,995, Rs 2,65,995 and Rs 1,70,000, respectively.

In order to reach its target audience, the company intends to invest heavily in retail expansion across Tier 2 and 3 cities and have at least 200 Canon Image Squares (CIS) set up by the end of this year. The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR are the highest resolution full frame DSLR cameras Canon has to offer. Apart from shooting 4K resolution videos, the XC10 is also capable of taking 12MP photos.

The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR feature 50.6MP 35mm lenses and full frame CMOS sensors combined with the dual DIGIC 6 image processors. Even at the maximum continuous shooting speed of 5fps, it is possible to make complete use of the 50.6MP resolution. They are aimed at professional photographers looking for studio, commercial and advertising solutions. The cameras embed 150,000-dot RGB+IR metering and an automatic exposure system.

Canon’s new DSLR cameras can handle the high pixel count owing to the integrated cam-motor driven mirror mechanism to minimize mirror vibrations and thus prevent image shake. Both include a spanking Fine Detail mode for stills to enable control over the level of sharpness. The company has set its eyes on news networks, wedding videographers as well as documentary and small filmmakers across India with the XC10.
