Canon EOS 80D, PowerShot G7X Mark II, PowerShot SX720 HS unveiled in India

The Canon EOS 80D, PowerShot G7X Mark II and PowerShot SX720 HS have been announced and are heading to India in April, May and June, respectively. Unfortunately, the company has chosen not to declare the local price of the shooters as of now.

Starting off with the Canon EOS 80D, the mid-range DSLR costs $1199 (roughly Rs 80400) for the body only. The brand hasn’t changed much in terms of design when compared to the 70D. It’s chosen to concentrate on improving its autofocus abilities with a brand new 45-point cross-type setup which is 19 points more than its predecessor and a Dual Pixel CMOS AF system.

There’s also a bigger 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a faster Digic 6 image processor on-board the Canon product. Its ISO now ranges from 100 up to a maximum of 25600 and its burst rate is at 7fps. The manufacturer has also upgraded its video recording capabilities by going from 30fps to 60fps, though its resolution remains fixed at 1080p.

Moving on to the PowerShot G7X Mark II, the camera can be bought in exchange of $699 (approx Rs 47000). The pocket camera flaunts a 20.1MP 1-inch CMOS sensor and a Digic 7 image processor. The two apparently ensure better low-light snaps. Buyers will also be able to perform in-camera RAW conversions to preview photos without the need of a PC.

Canon has also upgraded the device’s phase detection and motion tracking autofocus system. Other specs include an f/1.8 – f/2.8 lens, a zoom range of 24mm – 100mm, NFC support, Wi-Fi, and a 3-inch 1-million dot tiltable touchscreen. It can further record videos in up to 1080p at 60fps and sports optical image stabilization.

Finally, the Canon PowerShot SX720 HS is the most affordable of the lot at $379 (about Rs 25500). The point-and-shooter is clearly geared towards more amateur photography enthusiasts who don’t want to burn a hole in their pocket. Highlights include 40x optical zoom, 1080p video recording, a 20.3-megapixel CMOS sensor and a Digic 6 image processor.
