Canon EOS-1D X Mark II flagship DSLR with 4K support unveiled

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II has been launched in India, with the flagship DSLR camera set to go on sale starting from April. Interested buyers will have to spend a whopping Rs 455995 just to obtain the body. The camera is aimed at professional photographers working in various fields such as sports and wildlife.

The major new feature which the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II offers is 4K video recording, something which its 4-year-old predecessor did not possess. Users can record the footage at up to 60fps and will also be able to extract 8.8MP still images from the feed. Full HD mode allows for 120fps slow-motion videos.

The EOS-1D X Mark II is the first device in the series to support Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF). The technology enables fast autofocusing and tracking of objects in motion without getting limited by the aperture. A 61-point autofocus system, with a maximum aperture of f/8, further enhances the appeal of the camera to nature and sports photographers who have only seconds to capture an image.

Canon has also equipped the shooter with a CFast 2.0 card slot for high-speed writing. This allows consumers to click up to 170 RAW pictures and an unlimited amount of JPEG ones in the continuous shooting mode. It’s also blessed it with specs like a 3-inch LCD screen, USB 3.0 port and 3.5-mm headphone jack.

Another first which the EOS-1D X Mark II can boast of is its built-in GPS feature. All photos which get captured by the camera can be stamped with location data. There’s also an optional Wireless File Transmitter which utilizes Wi-Fi to set up a connection between the owner’s smartphone and the device.

Like we said above, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II will cost you Rs 455995 and begin shipping out in April this year.
