Recently we had reported on the FaceNow app for the iPhone which made using FaceTime easier. Here we have another app leveraging on the iPhone’s proficient camera, the Camera Duo 1.0 launched by Jambasoft. This software enables dilettante photographers to concurrently capture videos and photos. This application features in the Photography category of the iTunes Store and is compatible with the iPhone 3GS or 4.

The ability to take photographs while shooting videos sounds fun, doesn’t it? Well, the Real Photos mode allows handset owners to use the camera to obtain images. On the other hand in the Extract from Video mode, users can acquire the photos from the video data. The images procured via the second mode are saved in succession.

“By being able to take pictures while recording a video, iPhone users will no longer have to choose between one or the other when capturing their special moments,” said Shani Yadgar, founder and CEO of Jambasoft.

Taking up 1.6MB of space in the device, the Camera Duo 1.0 features focus, flash, torch, exposure along with white balance settings. Offering users the tap-to-focus ability, it supports multiple cameras or swapping and the iOS 4 retina display. Moreover, this software renders multitasking support wherein the photos and videos are saved in the background.

The Camera Duo 1.0 app retails on the App Store for $0.99 and is compatible with iOS 4 or later.
