A new application dubbed Burner for iOS has been let loose and it offers users the ability to have additional disposable mobile numbers for convenience and privacy. It can especially be of use to people who do not wish to disclose their original numbers to casual acquaintances.
With just a simple click, one or multiple numbers can be created apart from the main number, and they may be used for voice calls as well as SMS. They can be posted to websites like Facebook and Twitter for social networking and marketing purposes.
Once the temporary work is over and the respective number is not required, it can be discarded by a simple hit on the Burn button. This action necessitates user confirmation as a number once removed, is gone forever. The next time people call on that particular number, they will hear an out-of-service message.
