BSNL partners Detel to unveil D1 feature phone at just Rs 499

Domestic smartphone manufacturer Detel Mobiles has tied up with BSNL to offer one of its feature phones at just Rs 499. The handset in question is called the D1 and it’s currently available across India.

The Detel D1 is a pretty basic device, even for a feature phone. It offers a touch of color with a blue back highlighted with orange embellishments. The company has its MRP listed at Rs 699, so the bundled BSNL deal strikes off Rs 200 from its price directly.

BSNL’s only offering a prepaid plan with the phone, giving away Rs 103 worth of talk time. BSNL to BSNL calls will be charged at 15 paisa per minute, while BSNL to other networks will go for 40 paisa per minute. The offer also includes a personal ring back tone for 28 days.

As for the D1, it comes with a tiny 1.44-inch monochrome screen and supports only 2G connectivity. It depends on a 650mAh battery to get going, and carries its very own torch light. It only supports one SIM card at a time, so users will have to use a BSNL connection to get the above mentioned benefits.

Other notable specs include a FM radio, speaker, phonebook, and vibration mode. The Detel site doesn’t mention what processor it uses, but it’ll probably be a low-end SoC. There’s a year-long warranty on the device.
