BSNL outs revamped plans with 50% more data

BSNL is joining the rest of the telecom industry in upgrading its existing prepaid plans to offer more data and validity. Airtel has been busy doing this against Reliance Jio’s onslaught and now it’s time for the state-run operator to do the same in an effort to hold on to customers and attract new ones.

BSNL is calling the newly revamped plans its Happy Offer. Under the scheme, consumers will get up to 43% additional validity and up to 50% more data. That’s in addition to receiving unlimited local, roaming, and STD calls.

As per the new rules, BSNL’s Rs 186 and Rs 187 special tariff voucher now serve up 1GB of data per day for 28 days. This equals to 28GB of data in all, a tidy sum which should be more than enough for a regular data user.

There are also Rs 349 and Rs 429 schemes which deliver an identical 1GB of data on a daily basis for 54 days and 81 days, respectively. For those looking for something heavier, BSNL has a Rs 485 plan which dishes out 1.5GB of data every day for 90 days. There’s even a Rs 666 tariff which promises the same 1.5GB of data for 129 days.

BSNL is bundling 100 free SMSes per day with all the new packs. This is in line with rivals like Airtel, but less than the unlimited SMSes which Reliance Jio packages with nearly all its plans, plus unlimited calling and free access to Jio apps.
