BSNL now offering 10GB data per day at Rs 249

With the imminent threat of Reliance Jio’s Giga Fiber broadband system looming over BSNL, the state-owned operator has decided to announce a new plan to retain and attract customers. Dubbed ‘Unlimited Broadband at Rs 249,’ the scheme promises to deliver 10GB of data on a daily basis.

All-in-all, this totals up to around 300GB of data per month at Rs 249. BSNL is looking to sweeten the deal by throwing in unlimited night calling from 9 pm to 7 am every day and unlimited calling on all Sundays.

Subscribers will enjoy 2Mbps speeds up till a 1GB limit. Post that, they’ll have to contend with a lower 1Mbps rate. BSNL notably isn’t imposing any limits on uploads or downloads. The company is in the midst of a data push for its telecom arm as well.

BSNL is currently supplying 1GB of free data to smartphone owners who are BSNL subscribers but haven’t used the brand’s GSM data yet. The idea behind the deal is presumably to get non-internet users to try out data services. The firm itself stated that the intention of the offer was to boost the number of internet users in its network and promote the Digital India drive.

The 1GB deal is valid for 28 days and can be accessed pan-India. BSNL has separately announced a new 90-day Rs 339 pack which gives away free unlimited BSNL-to-BSNL calls and 25 minutes of free calls to other networks every day. Consumers will further get 2GB of 3G data per day for 28 days.
