Avid smartphone and tablet gamers are in for a treat as Boulder Dash for Android has been released for this Google platform. The 1984 game, available through the Android Market, will feature five difficulty levels along with a new Zen mode which lets users play without a game clock.

The aim of this game, optimized for Android, is looking for diamonds in caves, while saving the player from boulders, patrolling enemies, amoebas, and more. From among a total of five games, the retro version and three more are available as in-app purchases and another one has to be included separately. Moreover, this introduced comes with updated as well as retro graphics.

Boulder Dash – The Collection includes three retro cave packs from the 1980s, with Boulder Dash – Rockford’s Revenge and caves from Boulder Dash-The Construction Kit. Two new cave packs are from the 2003 and 2005 Mobile Editions Volume 1 and 2. Irrespective of their types, all cave packs support landscape as well as portrait screen orientations, making it comfortable for all sorts of users.

They are also compatible with three different sets of controls and other keys which work for right as well as left handed play. And for players who want to flaunt their diamond accomplishments to friends, the Online Leaderboards and Achievements allow this on OpenFeint.

The Boulder Dash for Android price in the U.S. is originally $3.99 when purchasing The Collection pack. This has now been dropped to $0.99 for the next 5,000 purchases and each in-app additional cave pack will be charged 99 cents extra. Also, the price in India for the game application is Rs. 49.49.
