Boost Mobile Motorola i1 to hit stores on June 20

Motorola i1 Motorola brings back the walkie-talkie with its latest offering. The company has slid the covers off its new Motorola i1 handset coming through Boost Mobile, claiming to be the first Android powered touchscreen smartphone to be equipped with a nationwide walkie-talkie.

The Motorola i1 comes equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash and video facility, a vibrant 3.1-inch HVGA display, an Android Web Browser and is one of the first to exhibit the new Opera Mini 5. The optimized browser enables instant access to email exchange through Gmail, Yahoo! and MSN. The device is preloaded with Instant Messenger, Google Talk. The i1 also supports other messengers through download such as Yahoo!, AIM etc.

“Last year Boost disrupted the wireless marketplace with the $50 Monthly Unlimited offer, and we are doing it again with the launch of the Motorola i1,” asserts Neil Lindsay, chief marketing officer, Boost Mobile. Together with Motorola, we are able to offer the Android experience to those customers who enjoy the walkie-talkie feature. And with 1,100 Best Buy locations, 80 Best Buy Mobile stores and exclusive Boost Mobile stores nationwide, customers will not have to search far to find this hot handset.”

The Motorola i1 is also said to be the first Android smartphone to assimilate the new SWYPE technology for swifter messaging. The device is Wi-Fi, Stereo Bluetooth and GPS enabled. It supports a 2GB microSD card which could be expanded up to 32GB. The i1 merged with Boost Mobile’s ‘Monthly Unlimited’ service, with unlimited nationwide talk, text and Web for $50 per month makes it an apt combination.

The Motorola i1 would be available nationally at Boost Mobile Exclusive Retail Stores, Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores commencing from June 20.
