The BlackBerry Q5, a mid-range handset from the company has already been put up for pre-order in India, but without any exact availability details. Nevertheless, rumors doing the rounds on the web have revealed that the BlackBerry 10 OS-based handset will go up for sale in the country on July 16 for around Rs 25,000.
The OEM has not gone on record to confirm its shipping details or retail value, but the guys over at Firstpost have managed to dig up information via some unknown sources. Its Malaysia launch is slated for June 15 and the device will be arriving in the subcontinent around the same time. Besides the official website, the conglomerate’s Twitter handle for the country had also revealed that the phone is indeed coming to the nation.
This is the third BB 10 OS smartphone from the Canadian manufacturer and the second to bring a full QWERTY keypad. Unlike its predecessors, the Z10 and Q10, this device refrains from digging a huge hole in users’ pockets as it falls in the mid-range bracket.
Let’s take a look at the BlackBerry Q5 handset’s specifications. Apart from a keyboard, the front panel houses a 3.1-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen which can render visuals in 720 x 720p resolution. A 2MP webcam has also been perched on this side to facilitate video conferencing. On flipping it over, interested customers will find a 5MP camera complete with the ability to record decent-quality videos.
It acquires steam from a 1.2GHz dual core processor which works in tandem with 2GB of RAM and this phone’s 8GB internal memory can be increased by up to 32GB using a microSD card. The handset is slated to arrive in shades of black, white, red and pink and will draw power from a 2,180mAh battery.
According to the grapevine, the Q5 will be released on July 16 for price of Rs 25,000.
