BlackBerry India set to put 9 numbers on a single SIM card soon

BlackBerry is planning to bring its virtual SIM solution to India later this year and if it manages to do so, users will be able to have multiple numbers without the need for more than one SIM card. The Canadian company is currently in talks about bringing the technology into the country – So there’s nothing definite as yet as to when it will be available.

BlackBerry’s virtual SIM solution came to fruition through its acquisition of Movirtu back in 2014. The main benefit of this technology is that users will no longer need to maintain different numbers for personal and work purposes. In fact, a single SIM card can hold as many as 9 different numbers.

BlackBerry is currently in talks with regulatory authorities seeking clearance to deploy this solution in the country. Also, the company will be partnering with telecom operators to conduct tests. The virtual SIM technology has already been implemented in parts of Africa and it will soon be reaching Europe as well as other Asia Pacific countries in the near future.

In other news, the company recently launched its new all-touch Leap smartphone in India. A price still hasn’t been revealed for the device as yet, but BlackBerry notes that sales will commence from next week.

BlackBerry’s virtual SIM solution is mainly aimed at BYOD business users and it will work with phones not only from the company itself, but also those running iOS and Android.
