RIM has joined forces with Mippin app creation that will now provide backing for the BlackBerry App Generator to make developing software for devices, just a matter of a few minutes or so. The platform can be used by developers to come up with applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook as well as other smartphones from the company.

Mippin has apparently been used to build over 50,000 apps in the past 18 months, including software for Daily Express, Daily Star and OK! Magazine UK. This platform should prove to be of help to online publishers as they can create applications using their content in close to 10 minutes as well as integrate them with BBM to facilitate social sharing.

“With the BlackBerry App Generator it’s now easier than ever for publishers to build and launch an app on BlackBerry App World. Whereas creating an app from scratch can cost thousands of pounds and take several months, BlackBerry App Generator is completely free and can deliver a stunning app in less than 10 minutes. Plus, with BBM integration available, publishers can make consuming content a truly social experience,” commented Nick Barnett, CEO, Mippin.

App developers are not required to shell out registration or submission charges and they will continue to generate revenue by means of in-app advertising with the assistance of the BlackBerry Advertising Service. Applications for the BlackBerry OS v5.0 or higher and the PlayBook tablet can be created through this platform. It is expected to support the BlackBerry 10 OS too.

BlackBerry App Generator is now available at blackberryappgenerator.com.
