Bing to be default search engine for the iPhone?

Bing In iPhoneThis may certainly be remembered as one of the biggest news to hit the mobile industry. According to Business Week, if all goes well, iPhone users will have Bing as their official default search engine, thus replacing Google, reports MacRumors. Apparently, both Apple and Microsoft are in talks for quite some time now to make this a reality.

So one might wonder regarding the logic behind this sudden decision. Reportedly, the rising competition between Google and Apple could be the cause of this proposed partnership. If the deal is inked, it may also denote that Bing could gradually fill in Google’s shoes as the default search engine for Apple’s desktop version of Safari also.

The rivalry between Google and Apple seemed to have commenced with Google’s entry into the mobile industry plus Apple’s latest achievement of a mobile ad company. Both the companies appeared to have trespassed on each other’s terrains. Supposedly, Apple had mentioned that they would be isolating themselves from Google’s Maps data in the iPhone.

Reportedly, even if the agreement fails, it is believed that Apple is working on its own Web search solution which could certainly resolve the Google or Microsoft dilemma.
