AT&T has slated the Pantech Discover price for buyers in the US and added the smartphone in its current line-up. The 4G LTE handset can be taken home clubbed with a two-year service contract or even free of any service contract.
Not all technical specifications of the Discover have been given out by the company. But we know that it accommodates a 4.8-inch TFT touchscreen display on which, users can view pictures and videos in 720p. The dual 3D surround sound speakers complement the large screen and should be able to offer a rich movie-watching, game-playing and music-listening experience.
Stepping away from the recent trends, the OEM has embedded a 12.6MP snapper with 4x digital zoom. This can be considered better than most in the current scenario. It can be used for capturing pictures no doubt, but it also comes with the ability to record and view videos in full HD. As seen in the images, a 2MP webcam shares space with the screen and allows live face-to-face chatting.
Users will find Android Ice Cream Sandwich preloaded in the phone and there are no details given out regarding a possible Jelly Bean update. A dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 processor hides beneath the external appearance and runs at a clock speed of 1.5GHz. The company states that people can hoard content using the 16GB flash storage capacity provided to them and for further expansion, they can slip in a microSD card of up to 32GB.
The manufacturer seems to have taken steps towards the society’s welfare by including the carrier’s DriveMode feature that is strictly against texting while driving. So this is how it works; it automatically replies to texts, emails and wireless callers once the vehicle picks up speed of 25mph. The auto-reply message is customizable and users can notify folks in a personal way when they are behind the wheel.
The Pantech Discover is up for grabs through AT&T in the gray color. It carries a retail price of $49.99 if combined with a two-year agreement. Buyers can also pick it up free of contract for $399.99.
