AT&T HTC One price and release date descend officially

AT&T has finally made it official that the HTC flagship phone, dubbed as One, will be arriving with a release date pegged for April 19 in the US and a price tag of $199.99. This amount is for the 32GB variant and will require users to abide by a contract valid for 2 years.

Earlier we had heard of the 64GB model occupying shelves only in the said service provider’s stores at launch, now mere days later we have a label attached to it as well. This version will be available for $299.99 on a 24 month subscription keeping in line with our previous report.

Along with the formal announcement, the carrier has also proclaimed the incorporation of several apps that are specific to it. AT&T also brings forth the Ready2Go free service which aids users in setting up and customizing their device as per their requirements, all on their desktops. It facilitates the initial syncing and importing of contacts, email accounts and social media.

In a bid to do its part in restricting drivers from texting while driving, AT&T has incorporated the DriveMode utility. Once it has been set up, a message automatically goes out as a reply to missed calls as well as texts. This will be along the lines of an ‘out-of-office’ alert and it gets activated as soon as the vehicle gains a speed of 25mph. Moreover, by using Locker, consumers can avail of cloud storage to hoard all of their pictures, videos and other data. They can then access it from any other synchronized device.

Quickly running through the details of the smartphone, the Jelly Bean OS, a 1.7GHz quad core chipset and 2GB of RAM contribute towards performance. The burden of keeping the handset alive between charges is shouldered by a 2300mAh embedded Li-Po power pack. Externally, a display that stretches across 4.7 inches lies on the front panel.

AT&T has declared that buyers can go ahead and preorder their HTC One devices starting today at 1pm Central Time from its website. The network provider also attempts to woo customers with a free Media Link HD wireless HDMI adaptor which is worth $90. The accompaniment allows users to transmit data wirelessly between their smartphones and HDTVs. Customers should note that this offer will reach completion on April 18.
