Atari’s Greatest Hits app debuts on Android and gets nostalgia along

Those who crave to play the kind of classic games that dominated the 70’s and 80’s can give in to their desires with the recent arrival of the Atari’s Greatest Hits app on Android. The application was released for iOS in April this year and features various popular, classic titles which promise to get gamers nostalgic.

The company claims that their app has been quite a success as far as the iOS platform is concerned as it reportedly had more than 3.5 million downloads within a short span of time. Android users can now download the gaming app to receive the free Missile Command and access 100 classic Atari games.

The action-packed app offers users a collection of the most popular retro games plucked out from the 70s and 80s. Made for players who love to reminisce about the days gone by, it apparently pays homage to the original games with controls that have been designed to appear and operate in a similar way as they did almost 30 years ago.

The classic games on offer include Centipede, Asteroids, Tempest, Battlezone, Black Widow, Crystal Castles, Gravitar, Star Raiders, Pong, Lunar, Lander, Super Breakout, Major Havoc, Warlords, Adventure, 3D Tic-Tac-Toe, Fatal Run, Quadrun, Casino and Swordquest. Other games that players can also enjoy are Championship Soccer, Football, Realsports Basketball, Realsports Football, Super Breakout 2600 and Hangman.

The Atari’s Greatest Hits app can be bought from the Android Market in a form of 25 separate game packs priced at $0.99 each. Users can also purchase the app including all 100 games for a discounted price of $9.99.
