Asus ZenFone C ZC451CG with Android 4.4 KitKat announced

A spanking new Asus ZenFone C ZC451CG has been unveiled with Android v4.4 KitKat for a price of roughly Rs 6000, which means it’s a budget handset of course. The smartphone has been launched in Malaysia at RM 349 and is anticipated to enjoy a limited release in markets across the globe. At the recent launch event, the company claimed to have sold 700000 devices in the series till date.

In truth, the Asus ZenFone C which will be available in February (reported by SoyaCincau), simply varies a bit from other smartphones we’ve seen on shelves previously. The fact that international brands are rolling out various versions of the same budget device highlights the need for them to beat local players at the game of providing multiple choices for consumers. It’s not a move giants like Apple would stoop to, but others will try at it unabashedly.

The ZenFone C gives away its low end status by the cost itself. It has a 4.5-inch display and works on 1GB RAM along with a dual core Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.2GHz. Since this is Asus’ baby we’re talking about, the company’s very own Zen UI is mated to KitKat here. The handset has 8GB internal memory, dual SIM support, a 5MP rear camera and a microSD card slot for expandability, among other interesting features.
