The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite A502CG is the latest addition to the Taiwanese company’s popular smartphone lineup and it has been officially launched in the Philippines. The device is tagged at PHP 5595, which amounts to around US$124 or Rs 7700 in India.
As you’ve probably guessed judging by the name Asus ZenFone 5 Lite, the smartphone is a lower specced version of the original handset. It basically sacrifices on certain features in order to deliver the low price tag. Hardware-wise, the phone is more like the ZenFone 4 as it comes with qHD IPS display of 5 inches wide and just 1GB of RAM.
The processing power has also been dropped down to 1.2GHz dual core from the 1.6GHz dual core Intel Atom SOC. Apart from this, the embedded storage remains the same at 8GB and there’s a microSD card slot as well, which supports up to 64GB. The new Asus smartphone is also dual SIM enabled and it offers HSPA+ 3G connectivity.

While a lot of components have been downgraded, there are a few upsides to this smartphone. Firstly, it comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and has the ZenUI preloaded. And the battery capacity has been greatly increased to 2500mAh. Other features of the handset include a VGA front camera and an 8MP rear snapper.

YugaTech is reporting that the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite A502CG will go on sale starting in the Philippines starting next week. Whether the handset will get a global launch is still a mystery.
