Asus ZenFone 2 even exists as a 5-inch version, here’s the proof

As was the case with last year’s Asus ZenFone range, more than a few handsets will be released under this branding in 2015, out of which a newly leaked 5-inch variant is currently grabbing a lot of attention. That’s because it’s still to be officially unveiled, yet it has leaked in the form of live images.

Judging by the photos, the 5-inch Asus ZenFone 2 (ZE500CL) is not quite different from its 5.5-inch cousin which was showcased at this year’s CES. The device takes its design cues from the bigger model, and hence carries a rear-mounted volume rocker.

However, the stylish brushed metal finish which the original ZenFone 2 boasts of has been abandoned by the 5-inch model. A site named Asus Zenfone Blog (unofficial) is saying that the phone kicks in a 720p HD IPS panel, and runs on a 1.6GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor.

Asus has apparently fitted this smartphone with an 8MP rear shooter and a 2MP front camera. Android 5.0 Lollipop is its preferred OS, and as usual the company will be coating the base software with its own intuitive Zen UI.

A sharp look at the leaked specs of the 5-inch Asus ZenFone 2:

– Display: 5-inch IPS, 720p HD
– OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop
– Processor: 1.6GHz dual core Intel Z2560
– Memory: 2GB RAM, 16GB storage (expandable up to 64GB)
– Dimensions: 148.1mm x 71.5mm x 10.9mm
– Weight: 155gms
– Battery: 2500mAh

More importantly though, the 5-inch Asus ZenFone 2 features support for LTE networks, which could mean that an Indian release to compete with the likes of the Lenovo A6000, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and the Yu Yureka is right around the corner.
