Asus claims it has sold 40000 ZenFones in four days to counter Xiaomi’s claims

Asus claims it sold 40000 ZenFone units in India following Xiaomi’s claims of having enjoyed an incredibly successful ride with its Mi 3 smartphone. All the attention that the latter gets since it runs out of stock week after week at every sale, has clearly rubbed Asus the wrong way.

Asus rolled out three dual SIM Asus ZenFone models with screens measuring 4, 5 and 6 inches. The official launch took place in early July with Flipkart initially the exclusive online retailer for the trio of handsets. Starting from the smallest to the largest, they are priced at Rs 5999, Rs 9999 and Rs 16999.

Asus ZenFone 6 specs list:

– Android v4.3 Jelly Bean
– 2GHz dual Core Intel Atom chip
– 6-inch 720p HD IPS screen
– 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 64GB expandability
– 13MP main camera, 2MP front lens
– 3300mAh battery

Now Asus is working to make the smartphones available online as well as offline to meet market demand. The company has told The Indian Express that the it didn’t expect to sell as many units as it did and has been forced to change its sales strategy. The ZenFone 4 and 5 are particularly popular among buyers, which is not surprising considering how much cheaper they are as compared to the 6-inch variant.

Here’s the Flipkart page from where you can order the 4-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch versions of the Asus ZenFone. Although they’re on Android Jelly Bean at present, an update to KitKat is not out of the question. Even though Xiaomi and Asus have sold handsets at record-breaking speeds, we bet they won’t be able to boast about the same thing as Motorola.
