Asus Fonepad 8 voice calling tablet launched in India with dual SIM feature

The Asus Fonepad 8 FE380CG which is the company’s most recent refresh in its tablet series, has finally made its way to India and is selling at a very attractive price of Rs 13999. The slate continues to offer an Intel processor, but the latest Bay Trail release instead of the old 1.6GHz dual core chip.

The Asus Fonepad 8 FE380CG tablet tags along various improvements over the previous releases in the series, the updated CPU being the most important change. Not only does the slate get a huge performance boost, but also better power efficiency. The processor used here is the 1.33GHz quad core Atom Z3530 with PowerVR Series 6 graphics.

Design-wise, the Asus tablet looks almost identical to its smaller sibling expect for a few modifications to some components. The front flaunts an 8-inch LED Backlight WXGA IP display with a 2MP camera, while the rear has a 5MP snapper. Sadly, there’s no LED accompanying the main shooter, but you to get 1080p video recording.

The Fonepad 8 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and it will most likely get updated to Lollipop considering that it has a 64-bit processor. Also, the Zen UI is onboard along with various enhancements in the software department. The slate supports dual SIM card slots and can connect to HSPA+ networks.
