Asus may not be ready to face the fact that the Fonepad 7 Dual SIM is not worth the Rs 12999 price it commands in India, but other homegrown brands are sure making it look bad. The truth is that the tablet has a couple of specs which are superior to features that rival devices can boast about.
But there’s one problem which manifests in the form of the Asus Fonepad 7 Dual SIM not being spectacularly different when compared to much cheaper alternatives such as the Swipe Halo Fone or iBall Slide 3G 7271-HD70 or Lava QPad e704. What’s more, it costlier than the Google Nexus 7 2012 which has brand value and a quad core processor on its side.

The Asus Fonepad houses a 15Wh Li-polymer battery which promises to deliver up to 10 hours of battery life. This should take you through a whole day of average usage and is always a great point in our books. Its rear side is fitted with a 5MP camera, which is quite good for a mid-range device considering that the rivals we’ve mentioned above have pretty low resolution lenses. At the same time, we’re not big on photography through a tablet almost the size of our TV dinner tray. And that’s about it.

If you’re going to buy a tablet, it might as well be a really great one or a cheap stand-in mobile entertainment device, we think. This one is neither.
