Asus announces product launch, presumably for Zenfone 3 series

Asus has sent out press invites for a product launch event on 17 August. Though the invitation does not mention any details of the gadget to be introduced, speculation is rife that it is the new Zenfone 3 series. Asus CEO Jerry Shen will be attending the event which will take place in New Delhi.

The Zenfone 3 series was unveiled at the Zenfone event in Taipei earlier this year. There are five smartphones in the series – the Zenfone 3, the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, the Zenfone 3 Ultra, the Zenfone Laser and the Zenfone Max. Each of the devices has features designed to match specific user requirements from Android smartphones.

Asus ZenFone 3 Max

The Asus Zenfone 3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM. Its 16MP rear camera boasts of Asus TriTech Autofocus for sharp images, while the front camera is of 8MP resolution. It has a storage capacity of 32GB with expandability of up to 128GB. 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass protects the 5.5-inch screen from scratches.

Heavy multimedia users might take an interest in the Zenfone 3 Ultra. It uses the Asus-exclusive Tru2Life + Video technology to optimize images for clarity on the 6.8-inch screen. Memory space is set at 64 GB. Audio is enriched with two five-magnet stereo speakers that give Hi-Res Audio in 7.1 virtual surround sound enhanced by DTS Headphone X.

Asus offers the Zenfone 3 Laser for photography enthusiasts. It has second generation laser autofocus technology that captures shots with clarity in 0.03 seconds, as claimed by Asus. There is a three axis electronic image stabilizer to shoot videos without shaking; a feature that seems odd for a phone flaunting its camera technology as a highlight.

Heavy cell phone users have reasons to cheer the Zenfone 3 Max (first image). The device has a battery of 4100mAh that enables usage for long hours. You can use this gadget as a power bank to charge other digital devices. It also has two battery-extending technologies to ensure maximization of existing power in extreme juice scarcity.

Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe

However, the real star of the Zenfone series is the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. What makes it stand out from the crowd is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with a speed of 2.15GHz which has been introduced to the world for the first time through this device. It is also supplemented with 6GB RAM.

The Deluxe variant has invisible antennas that allow the rear of the phone to be uniformly finished in a matte cover without the presence of signal lines. It is the first time such a feat has been made possible in a smartphone.

Here are the specifications of the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe:
– OS: Android 6.0
– Display: 5.7-inch, super AMOLED FHD, Gorilla Glass 4
– Storage: 64GB
– CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
– RAM: 6GB
– GPU: Qualcomm Adreno 530
– Camera: 8MP front, 23MP rear, 0.03s Tritech AF, EIS
– Battery: 3000mAh with BoostMaster fast charging

There’s no point speculating over the price since there are various versions of Asus’ confusingly named Zenfone 3 devices. We’ll hear more on August 17, as mentioned above.
