Office Heroes, a social game for the iPhone and iPod Touch by Astro Ape, intends to do just that. Users enter the corporate world and climb the ladder of success without really having to do any boring work.
Players take on as office workers who can enhance their appearance, wardrobe, office and toys from within the application. It seems to be quite a move away from the regular handling of files and papers. Users need to complete a variety of tasks everyday like updating their resume, watching movies, shopping online, making copies, blogging, tweeting, playing solitaire, gossiping and more.
“Office Heroes turns normally mundane tasks like fighting spam and sending faxes into a fun and rewarding game. Unlike your stagnating real-world career, in Office Heroes you’ll be lounging in your posh corner office in no time – just in time for the new season of Mad Men,” statedWilliam Fong, co-founder of Astro Ape Studios.
By completing the tasks, players earn career points which will allow them to embellish and extend their office with an array of over 200 beautifully carved customized objects. The unique customization feature further allows users to select possible avatars like ‘Office Ninja’ or ‘Office Pirate’.
To beautifully decorate the office, exclusive customized objects can also be acquired while selling off the old ones using ‘paperclips’. Yes, that’s the virtual currency in this application. With Facebook Connect, users can invite their friends, visit their offices and help them in their tasks. They can share achievements and promotions with their friend’s on Facebook walls and news feed.
The Office Heroes application will be available for free in the App store starting this month.
