Archos G9 tablet range gets Ice Cream Sandwich update

The Archos G9 tablet range which was initially operating on Honeycomb is set to get a tad sweeter with the all new Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. Users simply have to tap the ‘A’ notification placed on the right hand corner of the slate and download the software to get started.

This over-the-air update is soon to reach all owners of the tablet in question, right across the globe. As most of them will already know, an Android 4.0 upgrade could mean faster web-browsing, a more user-friendly interface, improved social media facilities, adjustable widgets and so on.

Specific add-ons are inclusive of 1080p video recording support along with automatic downloads of subtitles. It will also allow for wireless content transfer between the tablet and other DLNA compatible TVs or PCs. Additionally, the software will provide 3D video support for MKV3D files.

Owners of this device are even set to witness a new File Manager offering complete with drag and drop support as well as a remote control application and Ethernet USB dongle accommodation. As for the hardware specs of the 101 variant, an OMAP 4 smart multi-core Arm Cortex A9 processor clocking in a speed of 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz is embedded within the chassis.

A 10-inch display with 1280 × 800p screen resolutions is also on offer. The device even supports 720p visuals for video conferencing. The 80 G9 is dominated by an 8-inch display on the front panel that offers about 1024 x 768p resolutions and it operates on an OMAP 4 smart multi-core Arm Cortex A9 1GHz processor.
