Aptina Creates MT9P013 Image Sensor For 5MP Camera Mobile Phones

Aptina Micron LogoCamera phones are getting better and better day by day as there are some or the other features for camera phones. The latest one is the image sensor from Aptina, a provider of CMOS image sensor to the mobile manufacturers. It has launched the MT9P013 5MP image sensor.

The image sensor is created in order to improve the picture quality. The sensor features a 1.75 micron pixel and 1/3.2 inch optical format. MT9P013 is a third generation 1.75 micron pixel and is incorporated with light gathering advancements. The sensor supports 720p HD video capturing feature at 60 fps and a full 5MP resolution images at 15fps. The sensor offers flexibility for ISP support which inherits MIPI, CCP2 or parallel interfaces.

“New advancements in Aptina’s imaging technology are increasing the sensitivity of our 5MP sensors and enabling Aptina to meet the quality and feature demands voiced by high end mobile manufacturers,” comments Venkat Puntambekar, segment marketing director of Mobile Imaging. “The improvements of this sensor over the MT9P012 make it a great addition to the portfolio of mobile solutions we extend to our customers to optimize their cost/performance point. This new sensor provides drop-in convenience for current users with a better performing 5MP image sensor.”

Aptina’s MT9P013 image sensor with multiple output options will be available by the end of January 2009. As such, its pricing details are not yet available.
