Apple releases iOS 10, watchOS 3 and tvOS 10

Apple has officially launched iOS 10.0.1 for iPhone and iPad, along with watchOS 3 for its smartwatches and tvOS 10. The first update of the three introduces improvements in Messages, Photos, Siri and Maps. It boasts of new features like ‘Raise to Wake’, Memories in Photos, and 3D Touch which has been extended to various apps.

iOS 10 brings in maximum changes to the messaging service in Apple products. The update adds personalization elements like animations running over the whole screen and handwritten notes into chats. It also has enabled Tapback that displays six options from which a reply can be chosen.

iMessages iOS 10

iMessages now predicts emojis in conversations. Emoticons replace text in chats with just a tap. Other services like payments or photo editor are accessible without leaving the messaging app. Apple is also introducing a range of stickers that can be added in conversations or on photographs.

The Apple-developed virtual assistant Siri has been modified to cover more apps like Lyft and CarPlay. It can perform functions directed by the user’s voice inside any application. The ‘Raise to Wake’ feature displays notifications the moment the iPhone is picked up. You can also see the various media in a message from the alerts on the screen itself.

Photos has received several additions through iOS 10. The Memories feature in the app sorts and displays older photos from albums according to user preferences. They are combined into slideshows or videos to be shared across various platforms.

While iOS 10 was being rolled out to the world, early installers of the update had to face a serious problem in their devices. Their gadgets simply could not download the upgrade over wireless connectivity and users ended up having to connect their handsets to their PCs to restore the OS.

watchOS 3

Several images of the bricked iPhones and iPads were uploaded on social media to warn users against downloading it. Apple’s website is currently displaying a method to recover the temporarily unusable devices. The tech giant recommends downloading iOS 10 from PC-installed iTunes for such gadgets. It is worth waiting for a few days before upgrading.

In addition to the new OS for iPhones and iPads, watchOS 3 has also been introduced for Apple Watches. The update is likely to ensure faster performance and longer battery life in the wearables. The fourth generation of Apple TV will receive the new tvOS 10 with added features on the remote app.
