Apple Music comes to Android

You can’t have FaceTime for Android yet, but Apple Music at least has reached Google Play Store for those who wish to try it without having an iOS device. The service is available for download already and you can sign up for a three-month free trial period to begin with. Apart from this app, Apple also offers the Beats and Move to iOS applications for Android users.

Apple Music was unveiled in June 2015 for 100 countries, to applause from experts who noted that it had the potential to turn the tide for the music industry. The service is supported by advertisements as well as subscriptions, and has a collection of more than 30 million songs to entice consumers. In the US, the monthly fee is $9.99, while a family plan costs $14.99.

The beta version of the app has been rolled out for now. A couple of features are hence missing or yet to fixed. For starters, you can’t watch music videos or register for a family membership through the application. And the whole signup process has to be fine-tuned for Android. Apple Music for Google’s mobile OS has a radio feature and ‘Playlists’ has a section of its own.

‘For You’ streams songs recommended by experts based on what users already like. ‘My Music’ gathers together saved tracks along with those purchased through iTunes. The
‘New’ is for when you simply want to browse and listen to tunes that catch your ear. Apple Music also has a ‘Connect’ platform for enabling artists to share their world and inspiration with fans.

Apple Music for Android can be downloaded on devices running v4.3 or higher of the OS. Follow this link to Google Play Store, if you want to check it out.
