Apple kicks off App of the Week strategy

Cut The Rope

If reports doing the rounds on the web are to be believed, Apple may soon kick off an App of the Week scheme on iTunes. Though there is no official word backing the information in its entirety, a tweet bearing news which could just imply the same has been spotted on the official Twitter page of the App Store.

Basically, the tweet welcomes fans to download the Cut the Rope: Experiments game from the App Store for free. Apart from that, there’s a hash tag accompanied by words that read ‘Free App of the Week.’ If this sort of offer is repeated every week, it could mean that iOS users can look forward to laying hands on a free app on a regular basis.

The strategy is not something new considering that Amazon rewards users of its Android Appstore with a free app every day. This idea if implemented by Apple, will be good news all the way, no questions asked. After all, getting access to paid apps on a weekly basis and free of charge is not an opportunity many may want to miss.

Cut The Rope Experiments

As reported on Phone Arena who dug up this tidbit from TouchArcade, the Cut the Rope: Experiments page on iTunes now features a generously proportioned banner that points to it as the ‘Free App of the Week.’ In spite of the clues swinging in favor of such a weekly treat, Apple fans need to sit back till an official confirmation arrives.

Perhaps, this week will reveal if Apple is indeed starting off an App of the Week scheme.
