Apple iPhone SE to arrive in April starting at Rs 39000 in India

The Apple iPhone SE has been launched and will be making its way to India by early April. The much talked-about handset is the brand’s attempt to win over 4-inch faithfuls who want the latest specs within the size they’re comfortable with.

There seems to be a lot of them about, given the brand’s claims that it sold over 30 million 4-inch iPhones in 2015. The new Apple iPhone SE also functions as a more affordable option compared to its current flagship 6S series, effectively targeting budget-conscious consumers in India and China.

The iPhone SE is priced at Rs 39000 for the 16GB version with no word on how much the 64GB one will sell for here. The brand had initially sent out a press release quoting a starting cost of Rs 30000 but later clarified that this was a mistake. The shift will come as a big disappointment to eager buyers who were probably pleasantly surprised by such a low cost.

Whether they still consider the Apple product worth the revised value will decide the phone’s fate in India. The handset has a lot going for it since it combines the top-of-the-line specs of the iPhone 6S with the design of the iPhone 5S. As such, it packs the same A9 processor and 12MP iSight rear camera as the former. It also ships with support for Live Photos, 4K video recording and TrueTone flash.
