Apple iPhone 3G announced, launching in 22 countries on July 11

Apple iPhone 3G The much hyped, speedier and advanced Apple iPhone 3G has been unveiled and will finally be shipping in 70 countries, with a launch in 22 countries as early as July 11, followed by other nations later this year. The lucky first 22 countries are Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hongkong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Newzealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the US.

At the WWDC 2008, Steve Jobs delivered the keynote on the advanced version of the classic iPhone and also announced that the touch phone will be available far cheaper than expected prices.

The 3G iPhone features ‘3G networking’ that is faster in data transfer than the EDGE network. 3G is being touted as the latest and most advanced technology in the mobile handset scenario. The advanced touch phone also comes with built-in GPS. “Using the GPS data we can actually do tracking,” said Jobs during his presentation at the conference. The advanced touch phone is also much sleeker than its predecessor.

3G iPhone is aimed at fulfilling the iPhone users’ demands for 3G network at affordable prices compared to the slow first-generation iPhone at unaffordable prices. The other demands on the list were third-party application support, enterprise support and its availability. While all the demands have been taken care of except for the enterprise support, this one will also be satisfied with the release of iPhone 2.0 software which will enable Microsoft exchange email. The phone also has various languages added to it along with 2 Japanese and 2 Chinese forms.

The advanced and innovative 3G iPhone will be available in the capacities of 8 GB and 16 GB for $199 and $299 respectively.

There are a few things that one wouldn’t be pleased to know – the 2 megapixel camera is not upgraded to any higher megapixels and there is no support for MMS (well, now we expected something more when the phone was regarded as an ‘advanced’ version). No wonders the prices are low!

Well, till the time they do work on the needed changes, here is a synopsis of the currently available features – it is sleeker with thinner edges and curvier with a full plastic black back, 36% faster owing to 3G, has many languages added to it, GPS, third-party application support, enterprise support and it will be made available in 70 countries in all via various carriers. The best feature is that the phone proclaimed as the ‘revolutionary phone’ comes in super-affordable prices.
