Apple could be in talks for AT&T iPhone 3G data tethering plan

laptop,iPhone,AT&TAll you iPhone freaks, here’s some more from the Apple rumour mill. The latest buzz in the iPhone terrain is the possibility of iPhone 3G users getting the option to purchase an additional data plan that would allow the handset’s 3G connection to be shared with notebook computers via AT&T.

Yes Apple may just be working on an official solution for the tethering capability of the iPhone with AT&T. Apple was recently in the news for pulling off the NetShare application from the App Store. The application that let users tether their iPhone to their computers disappeared from the AppStore. Apparently AT&T must have realized they were losing out on potential revenue.

The disappearing act by the application supposedly got nearly all the iPhone 3G customers triggered up. One of them was so pissed off that he wrote Apple-head Steve Jobs an email complaining that a data-tethering option was not available for the iPhone or iPhone 3G. Of course the mystery does not end here. The now dead and now alive Steve Jobs shot him back a mail that revealed Apple to be in talks with AT&T to roll out an official iPhone data tethering plan add-on.

Though the mail hasn’t been confirmed as authentic, it allegedly appears to be legit. But we’re damn sure that the tethering plans will let AT&T bank on mobile road warriors with iPhone 3G in tow. Allowing Apple to please annoyed users of the iPhone 3G, the tethering option actually makes sense.

Incase Apple is just playing tetherball with AT&T, users can also tether their jailbroken iPhone to their laptop with a little extra technical know –how.
