The official IndyCar application was launched on the Apple App Store recently by the Indy Racing League. The new application for iPhone and iPod touch provides users with really interesting features that include race action videos and the facility of monitoring race leaders live on the track.
The launch of this application coincides with this season’s Indy 500 weekend. The Indy500 otherwise known as “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” is the biggest motor racing event in the world.
“At the IndyCar Series we’re eager to provide our iPhone and iPod touch users with a unique, feature-packed experience on their revolutionary devices,” said John Lewis, Vice President of Marketing and League Development for the Indy Racing League. “We’re excited about the new IndyCar app because it gives our fans the ultimate IndyCar Series experience on their iPhone or iPod touch.”
The IndyCar App includes near real-time race action videos that are updated simultaneously with the occurrence of race events. All the exciting action on the race track and more are sent to IndyCar Series fans in a matter of minutes. A ‘Live Gap View’ exists to enable fans to follow race leaders live on track. It provides a visual representation of the gap between the race leader and the other drivers during live race events.
The app was developed in collaboration with July Systems which is a mobile internet pioneer with several leading American media networks. Some of the networks include major sports brands and leagues. The July Systems powered IndyCar Mobile portal was a Webby Awards nominee and honoree for 2009.
The IndyCar application arrives with a price of $0.99 from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at the iTunes website. iTunes places it as its top sports application currently.
