Apple 3G iPhone at a Discounted Price?

iPhone After RIM’s delay of the 3G Blackberry, there is yet another feather in Apple’s cap. As reported by Fortune, an appropriation will be given to those customers who sign up for the service with AT&T. Strategy of selling the iPhone at a discounted rate might just add to the shine of this already popular phone. The 3G iPhone is to be launched in June; coincidently the original iPhone was launched around the same time last year.

Management strategy or discounted rates, Apple has left no stone unturned. If you have been thinking that buying an Apple 3G iPhone would be out of the budget. Well it’s not the case anymore. AT&T is bringing the price down to $199 by subsidizing the price to $200 for customers who sign a two year contract. At this cost the iPhone will be available to a larger section of customers. AT&T can successfully draw the customers from its rivals like Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile.

However, slashing the cost of the iPhone and attaining two year subscribers, keeps me thinking as it is somewhere binding the customers to the network’s services.

Apple is said to have two versions of its new phone, an 8 GB memory and 16GB memory models that are expected to be $399 and $499 respectively. Some of the features of the new iPhone are its 9.2mm thickness which is slimmer than the original (11.7mm), has a GPS (Global Positioning System) chip for navigation. Well, now this contradicts the last thing we heard about the new iPhone being slightly thicker than the original one as it has the GPS integrated. Let’s wait and watch.
