Angry Birds Space update finds water in new galaxy

A new Angry Birds Space update dubbed Pig Dipper has taken the warring creatures to a distant galaxy filled with water planets and strange aquatic life. Brand new levels, power-ups and most importantly, new-fangled water physics make their way into the game with this upgrade. Although it has been released for its iOS and Android versions, the title’s PC, Mac, Windows Phone and BlackBerry editions will be getting it in the future, says its maker.

The new water physics attributes that have made their way into the Angry Birds Space update are aimed by Rovio at encouraging gamers to find out and execute ‘fun trick shots.’ Flock of Birds, Space Egg and Pig Puffer are the three new power-ups that form part of the new content. These can be witnessed in the trailer we’ve embedded below. And it contains thirty fresh levels which can be jumped into by those who download it.

The last major expansion for this game had come out in the form of the Red Planet update which was released in late last year. Launched in conjunction with the Curiosity Rover’s landing on Mars, this content granted the game a lot of the new gameplay.

The title had grabbed our attention when it became the first ever game to have been announced through space. In March last year, NASA astronaut Donald Pettit, had revealed the title while on-board the International Space Station. Following this announcement, it was finally launched for multiple platforms in the same month.

It is Rovio Entertainment’s fourth in a series of games based on its billion dollar franchise which came into being when the first game was launched in 2009. This was followed by its Seasons variant which presented completely new challenges to its players. As a tie-up with the 2011 film, Rio, AB: Rio was launched by the developer in the same year. Its gameplay revolved around various sequences that are present within the said film. 2012 saw two new games from the franchise hitting mobile platforms. These include Angry Birds Star Wars and a spin-off called Bad Piggies.
