Android-based Airtel Internet TV hybrid set-top box launched

Airtel has launched a hybrid set-top box called Internet TV in India, blending web-based services with an array of TV channels. Users will be able to stream YouTube and Netflix content, watch over 500 channels, download apps from the Play Store, and play games.

The Airtel Internet TV is based on Google’s Android TV platform. It’s currently available via Amazon India and will hit offline retailers soon. The set-top box is priced at Rs 4999 for a 3-month subscription to all SD and HD channels and Rs 7999 for a 12-month subscription. The second is a limited-period offer.

Owners will also get a free 3-month subscription to Eros Now, free Airtel TV Games, and a 1-month Netflix trial. Airtel broadband customers get an extra 25GB of data free every month. Coming to its features, users can watch 4K content, record shows to a pen drive, save apps to an SD card, and pause, record, or rewind live TV shows.
