Android 4.3 update for global Samsung Galaxy S4 to be rolled out soon

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the next lucky smartphone which will be receiving the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 update very soon. But it should be noted that only the global version of the handset which is codenamed GT-I9505 gets the upgrade in the coming weeks. Those who have the other variant of the gadget will have to be patient for some more time.

There hasn’t been an official announcement as such, but SamMobile has come across this news, probably from sources familiar with the development. It has been reported that there are not many visuals changes, but the Galaxy S4 will become pretty efficient after the 4.3 update. Apparently, the AnTuTu benchmark score that was earlier around 25K – 26K has increased to a great extent and now hits the 30K milestone. Hopefully, this is the genuine result and the South Korean company hasn’t cheated to bump up the numbers.

For all those who are wondering what the new software update brings, here’s a detailed report. One of the key highlights is that it now supports the Samsung Galaxy Gear, which is currently compatible with only about a couple of gadgets. Apart from this, customers can expect OpenGL 3.0, ANT+ and TRIM support. Samsung Knox has been implemented and the proprietary Wallet will also be installed on the phone as soon as it is updated.

Improvements have been made to the way RAM is managed and owners can expect a sharper display with better color reproduction. A new keyboard, a reading mode, a camera firmware and a browser have made their way to the Galaxy S4 too. Some UI tweaks and an enhanced TouchWiz launcher have been tossed into the mix as well.

The Android Jelly Bean 4.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 should be available in a few weeks.
