Amazon’s Pop-up lofts are coming to Bengaluru

Amazon is all set to launch its first local Pop-up Loft in Bengaluru to accelerate the growth of its cloud services in India. These spaces are essentially hubs for budding entrepreneurs, offering guidance in various matters related to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Andy Jassy, the chief executive officer at Amazon Web Services told the Economic Times that it was looking at Bengaluru to set up a Pop-up Loft because of the presence of numerous startups. AWS already has a strong presence in India, with 89 of the top 100 startups utilizing its offerings and 79000 of its active clients from the country.

The new Pop-up Loft would capitalize on this growth and challenge stalwarts like Microsoft and IBM in the sector. The building is meant to function as a large open office space where anyone can walk in at any time without any prior appointment and ask questions related to Amazon’s cloud services with an AWS architect.

Existing Pop-up Lofts in San Francisco and New York also hold technical sessions to get enterprises up to speed on topics such as Big Data, Mobile & Gaming, Security, Databases, and Operations. The space also offers full-day AWS technical bootcamps which comprise of hands-on lab exercises which use a live environment with the AWS console.

Bootcamp topics include Getting Started with AWS, Highly Available Apps, AWS Essentials, and Taking AWS Operations to the Next Level. Lastly, Amazon has made space for online technical labs which is supposed to be ready for walk-ins any time of the day.

Both beginners and advanced users are welcome, with subjects ranging from producing Amazon EC2 instances to launching and managing a web application with CloudFormation. The service usually costs money, but is free at a Pop-up Loft.
