Introduced to the world back in September 2014, the Amazon Kindle Voyage e-reader has been released in India now, affixed with a starting price of Rs 16499. While this retail value applies to its Wi-Fi-only model, the variant featuring support for both Wi-Fi and 3G is available for purchase at Rs 20499.
Of course, Amazon will be the only place from where you’ll be able to purchase the new Kindle Voyage. Despite boasting of a 300ppi display and other advanced features, this slate still happens to be the company’s slimmest e-reader of all time, at 7.6mm thin.
The screen on the Kindle Voyage has been provided with a layer of micro-etched glass that has been crafted with an aim of eliminating glare. Moreover, the this surface has been built in way that touching it gives you the feeling of touching paper, bringing you closer to the allusion of reading an actual book.
An interesting new hardware addition to this Amazon device is PagePress which is nothing but a new method of turning pages while reading e-books. All you need to do is apply a little pressure on the bezel of this e-reader to give it the command of flipping a page. The gadget in turn will grant you a silent haptic response as feedback.
The Kindle Voyage has been provided with a 4GB storage module, which is enough for holding thousands of e-books at a time. It moreover, boasts of six weeks of battery, with half an hour of reading every day.
