Joining the expansive collection of audio peripherals that debuted at the CES 2012 is the newly unveiled Altec Lansing Live 5000 Wi-Fi all in one speaker. This device allows users to listen and control cloud content as well as their personal music libraries from a number of gadgets like smartphones or tablets.

Capable of working over the home Wi-Fi network, the Live 5000 can be controlled by iOS and Android devices through the free Altec Lansing Live Controller app which can be downloaded from the App Store and the Android Market, respectively. It claims to produce stellar quality sound owing to the integrated tri-amp system and the two 3-inch mid-range drivers crafted from robust Kevlar fiber.

Brendon Stead, Co-President, Altec Lansing, cited, “Now more than ever, there are so many different ways to experience the music we love, and it doesn’t matter if it’s from the cloud, from our individual libraries or even from our friends’ phones. Whether it’s for personal listening or for a party, the Live 5000 is the device that brings your music mosaic and lifestyle together in complete harmony.”

This Altec Lansing system can reportedly deliver true vocals and mid-tones with negligible distortion. Contributing toward the reproduction of high quality audio are the embedded neodymium soft-dome tweeters, long-throw 4-inch subwoofer and a passive radiator.

The Altec Lansing Live 5000 WiFi music system will commence retailing in early summer for a price of $500. It would be available online at alteclansing.com as well as from select retailers around the world.
